Creative astrologyAre you creative?

When I ask this question, my answer is generally No!

But sometimes, just sometimes, it’s a Yes!

Even then, there might be a few seconds of delay, before I get the positive response delivered in various levels of conviction.

Remember when you were a kid and being a princess, a shiny knight, a super-hero was easy, fun and effortless? Do you still remember when you showed off your latest abstract wall painting or sculpture made with all sorts of pasta with the certitude that it was absolutely perfect? Back then, you could sing, dance, paint, draw and imagine without hesitation, doubt or fear.

So what happened?

How to use the Moon Phases to your Advantage

The Moon Phases

Want a way to benefit from astrology with no or very little knowledge of astrology? Follow the moon!

When my clients ask me how to get started with astrology, I often suggest starting with studying the moon phases. Why? Because studying the moon is easy, simple and fun…

It takes approximately 28 days for the moon to complete one rotation around the Earth. The Moon cycle can be divided into eight phases, each lasting roughly 3.5 days:

  • New Moon
  • Crescent
  • First Quarter
  • Gibbous
  • Full Moon
  • Disseminating
  • Last Quarter
  • Balsamic

Family Constellations: The Song of Saturn

Family Constellation

I have recently become very interested in family constellations work. Family constellations are an intense group process developed by the German psychologist-philosopher Bert Hellinger that aim to release and resolve profound tensions within and between family members.  Hellinger noticed in his therapeutic work that that one member of a family is unconsciously “following” another member. That is, the fate of one member has become entangled in the fate of another. Often it is the younger ones who unconsciously and out of love, take on the unresolved burdens or fates of those who came before. For example, a child may take on the illness of an aunt who was excluded from the family, or carry the depression and grief of a parent, or become entangled in the fate of a grandparent who suffered a “secret” misfortune and died young. One member of a family is “following” another by sharing their fate — out of a deep and unconscious bond of loyalty and love. But this “blind love,” or unconscious following, solves nothing, only adding complexity and tragedy to the family line. It often leads to repeated problems that seems unsolvable: bad relationships, debt problems, health issues…

Water and Fire by Darby Costello – A Book Review (Sort of)

When I first started studying Astrology one of the first things I encountered was the 4 elemental signs: Fire, Water, Earth and Air.

Here’s a brief explanation of how the elements relate to different functions in our personalities and temperaments: Fire is linked to action; Earth to common sense; Air to the thinking function and Water to feelings. That was all I was exposed to. Maybe every now and then some article would list a few keywords but had no in depth explanations.

I Hate You / I Love You: My Struggle with Venus

13 05 2010

I was struggling with my article about my inner/outer dialogue with  Venus.  Venus has always been my unlived planet and my writing is very rooted in my personal experience. Hard for me to write about Venus since I do not have a lot of experience with this planet.

Venus is ruled by Libra. But my Venus is in detriment – located in Libra’s opposite sign — in Aries. My Venus is also retrograde – meaning it seems from a geocentric point of view to go backwards in my birth chart. See Wikipedia: retrograde motion. Not a happy placement for Venus, where her qualities, as described in astrology manuals, are in conflict with the qualities  ascribed to Aries. Making difficult  for me to express both energies in a harmonious way. In astrology when a planet is retrograde, the energy of the planet is experienced in a more subjective, internal way. Thus your experience and expression of the planet’s energy is very unique to you. With Venus retrograde in my natal chart, my concept of beauty is different, comes from a different place, than those around me. Read the rest of this entry »

Confessions of another Astro-Nerd

25 11 2009

I always enjoyed Neeti Ray’s comments in Donna Cunningham’s blog Skywriter. So I googled Neety and found her blog Then I discovered her astrological sense of humor.  She had this post entitled “Confessions of an Astro-Nerd”, where she quips on astrology. It made me laugh so hard, I had a belly ache at the end. She totally inspired me to do my own confessions about what I really thought of Astrology.

  • My Mars is a wimp. Tucked in the fourth house, in Cancer and out of bounds. For an Aries this is the kiss of death.
  • My Moon is in Libra. I admire her juggling act. She is “Cirque du Soleil” material!
  • My Venus is in detriment in Aries and retrograde. I’m jealous, yes, jealous of people with a sexy, sensuous, happy Venus. I want one just like that! Maybe in another life!
  • When I look at someone’s chart, anyone’s, I immediately start checking out how it links with mine.
  • When I talk to people, more often than not, I try to figure out their sun sign, ascendant and moon through what they are saying, and how they are saying it.
  • My favorite method when doing a client’s astrology reading is K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Silly) I don’t do asteroids, minor aspects, tertiary progressions (true or mean), midpoints, profections, etc…. Why? Too much information? Why? The client get’s lost in so much information. I do not want to rescue my clients. I want help them help themselves!
  • I love astrology. I just love it. It’s the only love in my life that has not betrayed me, cheated on me, dumped me or broke up with me. It has just given me as much I as have given to it. Or as I put it “tough love.” Sometimes, very tough love with her difficult transits to my natal chart.
  • I agree with Neety that psychology and astrology need to combine and have plenty of beautiful life coaching babies.
  • There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who, upon learning you are an astrologer, will try to get a free reading; and those who zealously will try to convince you that astrology is a form of superstition. The latter are called “scientists.”
  • I do not feel the need to prove that Astrology works. I know it does. That’s enough for me.
  • Through astrology I found my community, my voice and some seriously good friends.

What’s on your list?

And for those interested, I do astrological readings and life coaching. Send me an email:
